Our winding entrance road is lined with red flowering shrubs that lead to the 6 acre (3.5 manzana) hacienda. The 2325 sqaure foot (216 square meter) farm house is on one level and has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a large kitchen. The kitchen window overlooks a walled garden which also serves as entry way to the house and garage. A fourth room can serve as an office or extra bedroom. The open dining area connects the kitchen to the the TV area which then opens to our large front porch with its gorgeous views of the Carazo Plateau. A two car garage is connected to the home by a covered walkway and includes a small bodega (shop) and laundry/utility room. A nearby 700 square foot (65 square meter) outbuilding has guard quarters, an equipment storage room, chicken house and coffee processing area. Rain water collected during the rainy season is filtered by a three stage filter system that supplies the home with safe drinking and cooking water. Our solar panel system is augmented with electricity from the local electric company.
